In today's article from the "Lawyer on the Farm" series, we're highlighting a crucial deadline you shouldn't miss during the summer holidays. We'd also like to introduce you to a valuable program that allows you to earn money by afforesting your land.

Owners of agricultural land and private forests can apply for financial support for forest-related investments until July 31, 2025. We remind you that funding is available under the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy for 2023–2027.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, funding covers a variety of forestry and environmental protection activities: (i) afforestation of agricultural land, (ii) planting trees in agricultural areas, (iii) creating agroforestry systems, (iv) activities to increase biodiversity in private forests, and (v) protecting forests from destruction. Furthermore, in addition to one-time investment support, annual subsidies are planned for maintaining the undertaken activities.

Assistance is available to: (i) owners or co-owners of agricultural land (including farmers' spouses), (ii) owners of private forests, and (iii) land communities, in the case of activities promoting biodiversity, which currently plays a crucial role.

Support is available for up to 40 hectares of land belonging to a single farm or community in a single year. The funding amount depends on the terrain and the scope of the investment. The amount of funding depends on: (i) the investment's characteristics, (ii) the terrain, (iii) the scope and type of conservation measures implemented. To apply for assistance, farmers must submit an application using the eWniosekPlus application, available on the ARiMR website.

It's important to remember the deadline for applications is July 31, 2025 – after that date, the application process will be closed. The program, which supports forest investments and forest conservation, not only provides an opportunity to obtain financial resources but also makes a tangible contribution to improving biodiversity, water retention, and climate protection. Afforestation and woodlots also have a positive impact on farm microclimate and the agricultural landscape.

In summary, farmers and forest owners who are considering afforestation or want to increase the resilience of their forests still have a few days to take advantage of the support program under the CAP 2023-2027 Support Programme. Applications are accepted until July 31, 2025, and are submitted electronically only. Time is running out, making this your last chance to take advantage of this program.
