On April 17, 2025, the 4th meeting of the Task Force for the Implementation of the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on Strengthening the Application of the Principle of Equal Pay for Men and Women for Equal Work or Work of Equal Value was held at the Ministry of Labor. During the meeting, representatives of the Ministry presented issues related to job evaluation.
Implementation of the directive on equal pay and transparency
As previously announced, Poland is obliged to implement the provisions of the directive into national law by 7 June 2026. It should be emphasized that national regulations may provide for more favorable solutions than those resulting directly from the directive, which only serves as a reference point for the laws of the Member States.
The first reading of the parliamentary bill amending the Labor Code took place on February 6, 2025. The bill is currently being considered by parliamentary committees.
The main goal of the amendment is to ensure the transparency of salaries. The proposed changes stipulate that employers will not be able to prohibit the disclosure of salary information during the employment relationship or take actions to prevent employees from sharing such information.
Key tasks of the Directive Implementation Team
The Team's basic tasks include:
- comprehensive analysis of the provisions of the directive,
- development of draft normative acts necessary for its implementation,
- preparation of recommendations regarding the further processing of legislative projects,
- analysis of the potential economic and legal consequences of implementing the proposed solutions.
We will keep you updated on the next stages of work on amending the Act and on the obligations of employers resulting from the changing regulations.
