When planning a vacation, employees in the "budget" sector often count on additional funds in the form of so-called "Holidays under the Pear Tree." This is an employer benefit paid from the Company Social Benefits Fund. Few people, however, realize that the obligation to create a Company Social Benefits Fund rests not only with budget-related entities. Furthermore, there is also the option of obtaining a vacation benefit from the employer. This means that a wide range of employees can benefit from this type of support.
"Holidays under the pear tree"
This benefit, as mentioned above, is paid from the Company Social Benefits Fund, pursuant to the Fund's regulations. Employers who:
- employ at least 50 employees;
- employ at least 20 and less than 50 employees, provided that the company trade union applies for the establishment of the Fund.
In turn, employers who employ fewer than 50 employees can create such a Fund, but they can also resign from it (in which case it is possible to obtain a holiday allowance from such an employer - more on that later).
Employees have the option to apply for this type of benefit. Depending on their financial and family circumstances, the employer will determine whether the benefit will be available and the amount paid.
However, it is important to remember to read the Fund's regulations - this will allow you to precisely meet the criteria for obtaining the benefit - they may concern, for example, the length of leave, the amount, or who is entitled to receive the payment.
Holiday allowance
If an employer with fewer than 50 employees decides to provide a vacation allowance, employees can receive it once a year. The condition for granting this allowance is that they take 14 consecutive calendar days of vacation time. The employer will not verify the employee's family or financial situation for this benefit – it is sufficient to know that the employee has used the vacation time appropriately and for the appropriate period.
