Ladies and Gentlemen,
on July 1, 2020. The draft law introduces changes to pedestrian traffic, speed limits, and the loss of driving licenses.

1. Increased driver caution

Pedestrians will only be allowed to enter the roadway at pedestrian crossings and with extreme caution. Before crossing, they should ensure there are no oncoming vehicles. Drivers should also exercise extreme caution and yield to pedestrians. Furthermore, when approaching a pedestrian crossing, drivers will need to observe not only the pedestrian crossing itself but also the surrounding area , so they can anticipate hazards and adjust their speed.

2. Changing speed limits

Currently, drivers cannot exceed 50 km/h in built-up areas from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and 60 km/h at night. The draft also stipulates that speed limits of 50 km/h will also be allowed at night.

3. Temporary suspension of driving license

In Poland, a driver's license is suspended for three months if they exceed the speed limit by 50 km/h in a built-up area. The change will also mean that this speed cannot be exceeded in rural areas . Additionally, the driver will receive a 500 PLN fine and 10 penalty points .
